Well what a difference a general election makes, even if we may not agree with them on everything at last we have a government with a working majority able to take decisions. The early indications are that infrastructure investment in the midlands and the north may get priority over that in the east and south, yet we know that Essex still needs significant funding to help boost our local and national economies.
We will continue to lobby Ministers and MPs for that investment. At our annual county lunch last December we heard of Manchester Airport Group’s plans for Stansted Airport and more recently we have met Bradwell B to learn more about their plans for a new nuclear power station on our coast. We are also talking to Highways England about the Lower Thames Crossing and HS2 Limited about their plans. All of these projects will directly or indirectly help Essex businesses.
I can see a busy year ahead for us but in the meantime please take time to read more about what some of our major members are doing for our county.
